Let’s solve this once and for all right now.


If you’re anything like my clients, at some time or another, you’ve wondered to yourself, “Why don’t diets work?”.


Maybe you’ve seen it in your friends – they will try the latest diet craze – low carb, low fat, low calorie, whatever it may be – and it seems like no matter what they do, as soon as they finish the diet they gain all of their weight back?

Or worse, end up heavier than when they started?


Why is this?


I mean, it’s well documented in government literature what the best guidelines for healthy eating and living are…it’s not like people don’t know what to eat and how to live to be healthy…right?


And yet, more people than ever before in human history are obese, and not only that, the GROWTH rate for obesity is continuing to increase. So not only are we getting fatter, but the RATE at which we are getting fatter is increasing as well.


It seems to me like the current “mainstream” nutritional and health guidelines are…well, misguided. I mean, if they were correct, wouldn’t we all be a healthy, happy population? Wouldn’t this obesity epidemic not even exist?


Albert Einstein (a very smart man, I might add) once said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.


And yet here we are, doing exactly just that – following guidelines that continue to only produce an unhealthy, obese population, expecting them to provide us with a different result.


When it comes to fat loss and healthcare, I’d say we’re downright certifiable.


How many calories do we count (with no results?)


How many miles do we run (only to find ourselves exhausted and in physical pain, rather than with less of a gut?)


How many “burn fat in just 5 minutes a day” infomercials can we watch? How many fat loss pills, gimmicks, and gizmos can we buy?


It’s madness. And it’s time for it to end.


If I were a cynic, I would just chalk up our losing obesity battle as a hopeless state of affairs and move on with my life. Fortunately, I’m not a cynic. Instead of just accepting things as they are, that fat loss is just a matter of counting calories, hours and hours of cardio, and eating whole grains, I spent the last 10 years learning the real truth about fat loss. I’ve worked with over 750 clients, read over 600 books, research papers and scientific journals, and spent over 10,000 hours working, learning, and researching how to become as healthy as possible, in the trenches.


And I’ve discovered that the majority of weight loss information that is out there isn’t just making you fat – it’s KILLING you.


And I’d like to share all of my learnings with you – but only if you agree to one condition.


You need to forget everything that you think you know about diet, health, fitness, and fat loss and have an open mind to what you are about to read.


Because if you’re attached to the idea that fat loss is simply a matter of calories in vs. calories out, or that saturated fat is going to give you a heart attack, then you may be surprised by what I have to say.


If you’re skeptical, I understand. I was too when I first started my research into true health. I walked across the stage at my University graduation thinking that I knew everything there was to know about fitness, nutrition, and health. Of course – I didn’t know anything. I was just a representative of the processed food industry. If you wanted my diet and nutrition recommendations, I’d just point you to the USDA’s website to get you familiar with their food guide pyramid. I’d tell you that eating according to that guide would take you on the path to better health.


Boy was I wrong.


And, as horrendous as my dietary recommendations were, my approach to personal training may have been worse. I promised to give my clients speedy fat loss, and instead gave them, well, cardio. Each week, clients were commanded to come in and burn as many as 7,000 calories on their cardio machine of choice.


Not only was all of that cardio brutal and inhumane, it was just plain stupid and a remarkable waste of time. It simply didn’t work. After all the treadmill mileage and prolonged semi starvation, my clients weight seldom budged. Sometimes their weight even went up. But that was because they put on muscle, right? (wink, wink!) and when the scale moved in the right direction, the results never lasted for more than a few months. The pounds ALWAYS came back, and then some.


Like a typical trainer, I got on the defensive. They must have cheated on their diets. Whatever was going on here had nothing to do with my ingenious scientifically proven program. Calories in, calories out. It’s the law of thermodynamics! How hard could it be? Instead of questioning it, I would just increase their workout intensity and length.


Except that didn’t work either.


Along with all of that, I had plenty of health issues myself. I was an exhausted, depressed, anxious individual who never left the house. I had digestive issues and my temper was out of control. I was supposed to be this healthy personal trainer, and yet my mood got so bad that I had to turn to prescription antidepressants.


I was a FRAUD.


Apparently, my brilliant, “scientifically proven” health program wasn’t working for me either. I found zero satisfaction in knowing that I spent tens of thousands of dollars and six years on a university education – studying health so I could be sick and get paid to make people fatter.


This couldn’t be how health worked. This wasn’t even supposed to be how LIFE worked. Human’s aren’t supposed to be doomed to obesity, depression, anxiety, and temper issues, right? there were tons of healthy, fit people out there — what was I doing wrong to myself? And even more importantly, what was I doing wrong to my clients?


So I hit the books. And after a ton of research, I stumbled across the truth – why most common fat loss strategies DON’T WORK. The real issue behind it all…




The Problem: Calories In – Calories Out DOESN’T WORK.


You see, as I did my research, I quickly realized how silly the concept of “Calories in, Calories Out” was. It simply does not work.


Basically, Calories in, Calories Out is the claim that if you simply take in less calories than you expend for energy, you will lose weight over time. It’s based on a law of physics called the Law Of Thermodynamics.


But let’s set aside the physics for a second and consider common sense in REAL LIFE. How many people do you know that have cut their calories while exercising more and been able to lose fat long term?


And by long term — I don’t mean 2 weeks. I mean after 6 months, were they able to keep the weight off?


Probably not.


And it doesn’t just stop with your friend. When I was a newbie personal trainer, my “calories in, calories out” based workouts and diet plans didn’t work either.


Clients would start with me, ready to take their fat loss to the next level — and things would go well for about a week or two. Then they would hit a wall. I would try to help them push through that wall by having them do unending cardio sessions and eating less calories — but inevitably, they would burn themselves out.


I mean, imagine how you would feel eating only 1,000 calories and doing 2 hours of cardio every day!


Eventually, my clients would end up right back where they started, or even worse, put on a few pounds.


Remember what Einstein said?


It’s time for something new. We need a new fat loss paradigm.



The Truth: Fat Loss is NOT a Math Problem


You see, this calories in, calories out concept tries to simplify fat loss into a math problem. This “math problem” implies that someone who knows basic math and has a little willpower can peel their fat off like an extra layer of clothing simply by eating less and moving more.


Now, I make my living simplifying complex health topics for my audience. It’s what I do. But to take fat loss and simplify it down to just “Calories in, Calories Out” is like saying “The Sun is just a big ball of fire.”


It’s a little bit more complicated than that.


But if that isn’t enough to convince you, let me tell you my personal story with calories in, calories out.


Try this on for size.


When I graduated from college 10 years ago, I weighed 171 pounds. Pretty solid.


Now, I don’t make it a habit to use the scale, but on a whim I saw today that my body weight is still 171 pounds.


According to the calories in, calories out proponents, in order to keep my weight the same over the last 10 years, I would have had to eat EXACTLY the same amount of calories as I was expending for energy.


For 10 years. That means if I had even just TEN calories over my limit per day then I would have 10.4 extra pounds of fat on my body right now. And my credibility would be shattered.


To clarify what 10 calories actually IS – it’s 1.5 almonds.


So if I just had 1 and a half almonds more than I was supposed to, I’d be 10.4 pounds fatter right now.


And yet, here I am, standing before you at only 171 pounds.


Am I the only one who finds this incredible?


If this isn’t enough to prove that calories in, calories out doesn’t work, then I don’t know what is.


The fact is, when you restrict your calories to try to balance the calories in, calories out equation, all you get is ravenous hunger and a slower metabolism.


Let me give you a real life example. When your vehicle is running low on fuel, you act accordingly. You might take it easier on the gas pedal, you coast down hills, and you keep your eyes peeled for the nearest gas station. You do this to conserve gas so that you’re not stuck on the side of the road with your thumb out begging for a ride.


When your body is low in fuel, it does the same thing that you do to your car. When less calories are coming in because you’re dieting, your body sees no reason to keep firing on all cylinders. Like you, it acts accordingly by slowing things down – it will tell your thyroid gland to slow down your metabolism (not what you want when you’re trying to lose fat!).


This is why your friend who is only eating 900 calories a day can’t lose a pound. Her metabolism has made the proper survival driven adjustments, slowing so considerably from such prolonged energy deprivation, that anything beyond her rice cakes and hour long cardio sessions will make her weight balloon right back up. And when she does break and find herself at a buffet gorging herself, she’ll pack the pounds back on faster than ever before.


And that’s before we even bring nutrients into the picture. If you start to eat half as much food, you get half as much nutrients. When you get half as much nutrients, your body goes haywire. Your hormones get out of whack, you can’t sleep at night, you have no libido, you get depressed, and you can’t think properly. Your brain NEEDS nutrients to survive – and when you deprive it of them, you’re in trouble.


So, how do we quit this insanity and get real results? How do we lose fat PERMANENTLY? The answer is actually quite simple…

Are you a vegetarian who uses textured vegetable protein (TVP) or tempeh in your recipes? TVP and tempeh are derived from soybeans. If the package didn’t say organic, then you’re probably eating genetically-modified products. As for soy milk, tofu, and miso . . . well, you get the idea.

For babies allergic to dairy, there is even soy-based infant formula.
Approximately 75 percent of the processed food in American grocery stores has genetically-engineered ingredients. High fructose corn syrup, for example, is found in most sodas, many snack foods, ketchup, and even commercial bread and that syrup usually comes from GM corn.
If the food label has words like ascorbate, lysine, maltodextrin, modified food starch, or xanthan gum than you’re probably eating GM-derived food. What do GM foods have to do with poison? They are poison. Literally.

Genetic engineering has produced toxins never seen before, and those toxins are in the GM foods we’re eating. It has increased the level of allergens in GM crops, altered the composition of protein and other nutrients, and increased the GM crop’s absorption of pesticides and other chemicals. It doesn’t matter how much we wash an ear of corn. We’re eating those pesticides and chemicals, too.
Scientists have linked microRNA (ribonucleic acid) to cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease, among other illnesses. It is found in GM crops, like rice, and in the blood and organs of people who eat those GM crops. Recently, Chinese scientists found that microRNA survives the human digestive process and affects, among other things, our cholesterol function.
GM scientists now propose splicing microRNA into more seeds to block the function of specific genes in insects, so that the GM crops can better resist pest infestations. Unfortunately, humans and insects share a lot of the same DNA. Thus, the microRNA in a GM crop would undoubtedly impact human genes as well when it is eaten.

In independent laboratories from the U.S. to Russia, animals fed GM foods suffered damage to their kidneys, livers, hearts, adrenal glands, spleens, and the haemotopoietic (blood-forming) system. They slowed immune response times, provoked often severe inflammatory (allergic) responses, and altered testicles and sperm cells in males. Infant size and weight dropped. Infant mortality rates skyrocketed to over 50 percent.
In a 2011 published study of human consumption of GM foods, scientists found that the genetic material inserted into GM soybeans transferred into bacteria living inside human intestines, stayed there, and continued to function.

Traces of Bt toxin from Monsanto Bt corn were found in the blood of 93 percent of the women studied and in 80 percent of their umbilical cord and fetal blood.
In Europe, the German chemical company, BASF, moved its GM plant-science headquarters from Germany to Raleigh, North Carolina. Widespread opposition from citizens, farmers, and politicians to its GM crops, like the Amflora potato, meant that BASF had no market for its GM seeds.

GM giant Monsanto has stopped developing genetically-engineered crops to be grown in Europe, because most European countries refuse to allow them to be grown.
In America, however, the Food & Drug Administration’s Deputy Commissioner for Food Safety is a former Monsanto executive. In February 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture sped up the approval process for genetically-modified foods.
When he was campaigning for the presidency in 2007 and 2008, Barack Obama promised to introduce legislation mandating the labeling of GM foods. So far, he’s done nothing. So, grassroots movements in several states like California and Florida and Vermont are putting GM labeling bills on their ballots.

If they pass, people will at least have the information they need to decide whether to poison themselves or not. What can you do to help?
To overcome climate change, we need to unite as human beings. We need to bring together millions of people, thousands of communities, and hundreds of countries. How can you help? By donating your time and your ideas to help protect the planet and humanity: Are you a carnivore? Livestock feed for cattle, pigs, chickens, and aquaculture catfish is dominated by corn and soy . . . genetically modified corn and soybeans. In fact, 98 percent of the American soy crop is used in livestock feed. So, when you eat meat, you’re eating a GM product.

The Church has its fair share of sick and hurting people. These days when I speak at churches, I can’t help but hear about the substantial number of people seeking prayer for cancer treatments, heart ailments, arthritis, and liver problems. Ill health is now the number-one prayer request for churches and ministries. I’ve also taken notice of prayer requests for “tough cases”: children fighting diabetes, thirty-year-olds battling Parkinson’s disease, and fifty-something schoolteachers exhibiting the first stages of neurological disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Don’t we know that we’re setting ourselves up for debilitating disease and/or early death by making poor choices in what we eat and how we live? Of course, we do. You and I live in the Information Age, when our knowledge reportedly doubles every four to five years. To put things in a modern-day perspective, a weekday edition of the New York Times newspaper offers more information than the average person living in 17th-century England would come across in a lifetime. Although more and more information is available than at any other time in human history, I can’t say we’re any healthier in the 21st century. In fact, the research shows that we’re becoming less healthy.

Information is not the same as knowledge. Knowledge is acquired only when one is able to understand, interpret, and synthesize information productively, toward some valued purpose. This distinction between information and knowledge is crucial. In The Great Physician Prescription, my goal is to not merely gather and present information, but to help you gain genuine knowledge, understanding and, more importantly, wisdom.

 A Lack of Knowledge

When answering the question of why believers are not as healthy as they should be, it reminds me of what God spoke through his prophet Hosea thousands of years ago. In addressing the moral and spiritual decay of the nation of Israel, it says in Hosea 4:6, (NKJV), “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Notice that the Lord said “My people,” meaning believers, Christians, and churchgoers just like you and me. He wasn’t talking about pagans or non-believers. He said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge!”

I’m convinced that too many people coast through life without realizing that at least 80 percent of disease is lifestyle related. We must not be thinking about the significance of what we eat, the quantities we consume, and our sedentary, fast-paced, and high-stress lifestyles; otherwise we wouldn’t be surprised when a Southwest Airlines gate agent politely demands that we purchase another seat.

Our collective “lack of knowledge” may be wrought from the explosion of too much conflicting information about diet and health. With so many voices shouting for attention, it’s tough to know whom to believe. Many of the so-called “expert” recommendations of what constitutes healthy living are here today and will be gone by tomorrow. Remember how ten years ago everyone was saying that eggs were bad for you? The nutritional logic traveled along these lines:

1. High cholesterol levels are bad for the heart.

2. Eating foods high in cholesterol raise cholesterol levels in the blood.

3. Eggs are high in cholesterol.

4. Therefore, eggs are bad for the heart, so don’t eat eggs.

Now health experts are wising up to the benefits of eggs, a nutrient-dense food that packs six grams of protein, a bit of vitamin B-12, vitamin E, lutein, riboflavin, folic acid, calcium, zinc, iron, and essential fatty acids into a mere seventy-five calories. Eggs have the highest quality protein of any food, except for mother’s breast milk. So now the nutritional experts have egg on their face, saying it’s okay to eat them. In moderation, of course. (They have to cover their bases.)

The latest diets and the latest food fads come and go because people aren’t looking at a single, constant source of good nutrition and healthy living—the Bible. It all began nearly 4,000 years ago when God led the people away from Egypt. “Because I love you”—I’m paraphrasing what God told the Israelites—”I will give you commandments to make you a separate people. I am a jealous God. I want you as my own. I am going to give you ways to eat, ways to live, and ways to keep yourselves clean. Follow my way, and you will become a city on a hill. I will put you on a pedestal, and you will be my trophy.”

When Moses led the Hebrews into the desert and across the Red Sea, Psalm 105:37 says that there was not one feeble among all His tribes (New King James Version). That’s amazing, especially since historians believe that more than two million people were part of the Exodus—and they didn’t leave anyone—sick or healthy, young or old—behind! Despite being enslaved in Egypt, the Israelites had followed God’s health plan in a foreign land where they were enslaved.

You may be reading this and thinking to yourself, It’s too hard to follow a healthy lifestyle in today’s world. Try doing it while you’re being whipped for not turning straw into brick fast enough! When the time came to gather up their belongings and depart, they left Egypt as a vibrant, energetic, and healthy nation.

So there was not one feeble among all His tribes. Can you say that about your congregation? What about your place of work? What about your family? What about your own life?

 There are 12 ounces (340 grams) in a can of coke.

There are 39 grams (1.38 ounces) of sugar in a can.

340 grams / 39 grams = Coke is over 10% pure sugar!

 If you typically drink the equivalent of 6 cans a day you are consuming over 8 ounces or 1/2 pound of pure sugar per day.

o 24 oz. at lunch

o 2 cans during the day

o 24 oz. at dinner

• That level of sugar consumption equates to about 15 pounds of raw sugar per month, or 182.5 pounds per year. (This happens to be about my body weight.)

Don’t drink that much Coke? Well, 3 cans a day still equals 7.5 pounds per month or 91.25 pounds per year that your body has to either burn off or store as fat.

Sweet Tea has almost the same amount of sugar

Sweetened Coffee counts too. A heaping tablespoon of sugar is about 20 grams.

Keep in mind that none of this includes the sugar intake from all other sources in your diet in a given day. Some samples might include:

• 1 cup of Kellogg’s Corn Pops, 14 grams

• 1 Snickers bar, 30 grams

• 12 ounces of Gatorade, 21 grams

• 1/2 cup Blue Bell Chocolate Ice Cream, 20 grams

According to Healthbolt, here is what happens to you physiologically when you consume a can of Coke:

• In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.

• 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment)

• 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.

• 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.

• >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.

• >60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.

• >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

This will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. (As little as two if you’re a smoker.) But, hey, have another Coke, it’ll make you feel better.

By the way:

• Harvard says that a single can of coke per day can make you gain 15 pounds of body weight annually.

• Other drinks such as Snapple, Gatorade, Red Bull, Propel Fitness Water, and Arizona Original Iced Tea are as bad for you as Coke, or worse!

• It should be noted that Diet Sodas have an entirely different set of problems due to their artificial chemical cocktails, and they have NEVER been proven to cause weight loss – in fact there is empirical evidence to suggest they lead to greater weight gain.

Dire warnings appear every day. Government officials make impressive speeches about its dangers. Task forces are being assembled. Massive funds are promised. What is the cause of this grave concern? Are we going to war? Yes, we are, and the enemy is obesity.

Many of us have battled extra pounds, and it hasn't been a particularly successful battle. People without weight problems seem to think the cause of obesity is simply sloth and gluttony. I believe the root cause is something far more insidious, which threatens every organ in the body. And in many people, accumulation of excess body fat initially represents a biological defense response trying to protect our bodies.

This means that all of our efforts to follow the advice of simple slogans such as “eat less and exercise more” may be meaningless, and our current obesity crisis will continue unabated, if not accelerate – unless we attack the problem from a different perspective.

What we see as our current obesity epidemic is only the tip of a vastly more dangerous epidemic of inflammation – not the type of inflammation we can feel, but inflammation that lies below the perception of pain. I call this silent inflammation. It is this type of inflammation that is driving our obesity epidemic and a wide number of other chronic conditions. The underlying cause comes from the increased production of a natural fatty acid called arachidonic acid (AA), which can be incredibly toxic at high enough concentrations. This is the toxic fat that is key to not only understanding our obesity epidemic but also providing the linkage between obesity and chronic conditions.

Oddly enough, accumulation of excess body fat is initially your body’s attempt to protect you, by encapsulating or trapping this toxic fat in your fat cells so it doesn’t attack your other organs. The problem is that the toxic fat doesn’t stay trapped in your fat cells forever. Even though an increase in obesity may initially be your body’s way to try to prevent the spread of toxic fat to other organs, these storage sites for toxic fat can also be the staging areas for its future spread throughout the body.

Once it begins to spill over into the blood, you have Toxic Fat Syndrome. The resulting health problems associated with Toxic Fat Syndrome are relentless. But don’t despair; you can begin to reverse Toxic Fat Syndrome in less than thirty days.

Toxic Fat Syndrome in America did not appear overnight and no one single dietary factor was the cause. This health crisis was generated only when three distinct dietary factors came together simultaneously, creating The Perfect Nutritional Storm. The three factors needed for this Perfect Nutritional Storm are:

Cheap refined carbohydrates

Cheap vegetable oil

Decreased consumption of fish oil

Mankind has always had a trump card against diet-induced inflammation: high consumption of long-chain polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids from fish and fish oils. These omega-3 fatty acids in high enough concentrations are powerful anti-inflammatory agents. Unfortunately in America, just as the intake of cheap carbohydrates and cheap vegetable oils was increasing, the consumption of long-chain omega-3 from fish oil was dramatically decreasing. An estimated 90 to 95 percent decrease in fish oil consumption has taken place in the last one hundred years. By now, nearly everyone interested in healthy living is aware of the recent research linking Monsanto's GMO corn to cancer tumors and an increase risk of premature death in both men and women. News of the research is spreading like wildfire across the 'net, and support for Proposition 37 -- which seeks to label GMOs in foods -- is growing by the day.

 But the media has not yet reported on the everyday foods being sold in grocery stores right now and made with Monsanto's genetically modified corn (GM corn). Which foods are most likely to contain Monsanto GM corn? To answer this question, I visited a local grocery store in Austin, Texas and purchased 10 breakfast cereals made with high levels of non-organic corn.

 According to the Center for Food Safety, up to 85% of the corn grown in the United States is genetically modified. This means corn-based cereals that use non-organic corn have a very high likelihood of containing GM corn.

 The following list presents the top 10 popular breakfast cereals most likely to contain Monsanto's genetically modified corn. For the record, none of these cereals claim to be GMO-free, nor made with organic corn. The exact GMO content of these cereals remains a mystery precisely because manufacturers of these cereals refuse to label them with their GMO content. This lack of full disclosure by the food industry underscores the urgent need for a labeling law so that consumers can make an informed decision.

 Legal note: In no way are we claiming these cereals will cause cancer tumors to grow in your body or that they pose an immediate risk to your health. Those studies have not yet been done on humans. GM corn is an experimental crop with unknown long-term effects of humans. Breakfast cereals made with GM corn may turn out to pose a significant long-term risk to human health, but that has not yet been determined. This article is presented in the public interest, reflecting reasonable caution over a common food ingredient which French scientists have now convincingly linked to cancer and premature death in studies conducted on rats.

Which cereals contain no GMOs? 

Nature's Path There is only one brand of breakfast cereal I know of that's 100% non-GMO and 100% organic across their entire product line. That company is Nature's Path: 

If you buy breakfast cereal, and you don't want to eat Monsanto's GM corn, always choose cereals from Nature's Path. This is my No. 1 most highly trusted cereal company.

 Many "natural" brands that appear to be healthful and natural are actually not organic or GMO-free. For example, "Barbara's Bakery" cereals are not organic. Although they are positioned in store shelves alongside other organic cereals, they are actually made with conventional crops grown with pesticides which may include Monsanto's Roundup.

 You may also notice that most of the cereals most likely to contain GM corn are children's cereals. It is the children in America who are being fed the most GMOs. This represents a highly unethical food experiment being conducted on an entire generation, and the long-term effects of human consumption of GMOs are simply not known.

 What we do know is that rats fed this very same Monsanto GM corn developed shockingly large cancer tumors. 

The photo released by the French research team, showing large cancer tumors growing at a strongly heightened risk in rats fed a "lifetime" of Monsanto's GM corn, is shown below. According to that study, 70% of females died premature and showed significant damage to their liver, kidneys and other organs.

GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals created through the gene splicing techniques of biotechnology (also called genetic engineering, or GE). This experimental technology merges DNA from different species, creating unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding.

 Why should we be concerned about GMOs?

 Human Health Risks: More and more studies point to the idea that there’s grave cause for concern about the health effects of consuming GMOs and the chemicals they are sprayed with, including food allergies, irritable bowels, organ damage, cancer

Environmental Risks: Seventy-two percent of US GMO crops are engineered to tolerate a certain type of herbicide. But the weeds that these herbicides used to kill are coming back bigger and stronger, creating herbicide-resistant “superweeds” that require greater quantities of more toxic pesticides to eradicate.

The Risk To Farmers In Developing Countries: Every three minutes, a farmer commits suicide in India due to meet rising debts, a phenomenon that has been steadily rising since the 1970s. While the causes behind the farmers’ crushing debt and resultant suicides are complex—ranging from unfair government floor prices for cotton to international trade agreements skewed in favor of other countries—GM seeds do appear to play a role.

1. Allergies and food Sensitivities

When your digestion system does not function properly, gut permeability can increase, causing unprocessed substances to be passed on to the liver. This means that the liver has to process undigested foods, bacteria, toxic chemicals or whatever happens to be in the gut. As a result, the system can become overwhelmed and release these substances directly into the bloodstream. When this toxic material begins to circulate in the body, the immune system may be triggered, producing allergic responses to foods or other material released from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

 The food or substance causing the reactions may be relatively innocent — it is actually the overactive response of the immune system that causes the damage.

This dynamic can have a number of causes and result in a wide range of symptoms.

 2. Innocent foods and toxic effects

Another problem associated with an overloaded liver is direct damage to the body’s tissues caused by the toxic effects of chemicals in food or digestive debris. For example, certain elements in milk or wheat can have toxic effects on the nervous or immune system; specific sensitivities to proteins in wheat have even been implicated in certain forms of schizophrenia.

 3. Autoimmune disorders

Constant over stimulation of the immune system can also lead to an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system mistakes the tissues of the body for an invader. As a result, the white blood cells and T cells may actually attack the body rather than the invasive bacteria or offending substance. This can be a cause of chronic conditions such as asthma, lupus, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

With the development of chronic illness, an even greater toxic burden is placed on the liver. Under this increased stress, the liver may no longer be able to perform competently, setting the stage for a whole new arena of possible problems.

4. Inflammation

Inflammation is a normal consequence of our immune response. Yet if the immune system is continually on hyper alert, inflammation can become chronic. This is often a feature of digestive disorders and can be caused by a range of stress including leaky gut and allergies.

 If inflammation continues in the long term, changes in the tissue can occur, degrading resilience and function. Over decades more serious tissue damage can occur, leading to conditions such as accelerated aging, diabetes and cancer.

 5. Challenges to the immune system: Free radicals

The chronic overwork of the liver’s detoxification mechanisms, caused by hyperpermeability, sets in motion a series of stresses. The first of these is the increased production of toxic byproducts called free radicals, which have been identified as a major cause of cancer.

 The assault of free radicals, also referred to as oxidative stress, further overstimulates the liver, causing it to send out signals that can confuse the immune system. These signals may trigger inappropriate reactions in both the immune and neurological systems and cause inflammation.

 Increased stress on the liver can be caused by even minor but frequent GI complaints such as chronic constipation or an overgrowth of bacteria or yeast. This continual stress may ultimately compromise the liver’s detoxification capacity. At the same time, free radicals with the potential to cause cellular damage could be generated in excessive amounts. Their effects are experienced throughout the body in cell membranes, connective tissue and genetic material. This oxidative stress can lead to serious chronic illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and Parkinson’s disease.

 Oxidative stress from free radicals can also cause problems by depleting essential nutrients. This can short-circuit immune function, the activity of the nervous system, and the production of hormones. Over decades, these compromises can develop into conditions such as heart disease and cancer. Free radicals have also been identified as a primary cause of aging.

 6. Yeast and parasites

When the delicate balance in the GI tract is lost, an overgrowth of yeast can occur, particularly Candida albicans, an undesirable species of yeast that is normally found in the gut in small numbers even when we are healthy. However, when candida develops too large a population, it can overwhelm beneficial bacteria like weeds taking over a garden. An overgrowth can be caused by certain bacteria or microbes in the gut and can cause illness or trigger symptoms anywhere in the body.

Microscopic parasites are another cause of digestive disorders that are often overlooked and a growing public health problem. They are now considered one of the important causes in some cases of chronic fatigue, arthritis, neurological problems and immune suppression.
